The Rigalt house
A villa with a musical memory
The villa belonged to the Rigalt family. Mercedes Rigalt was a Barcelona-born pianist who made her career in Paris; her daughter, Mercedes Roses de Rigalt, made her debut as a child in Paris and in 1919 gave a concert organised by the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra.
One of the pianist's pianos still stands in the lounge of Villa Marcia, and the whole house is furnished with beautiful antiques: ideal for those who love art.

Every morning
Homemade breakfast
Breakfast comes with the rooms, and it is a generous one: the star of the morning is the homemade cake, with fresh fruit, natural yoghurt and good coffee to start the day.
In winter it is served by the dining room's big glass wall; in summer, the garden does the rest.

Saltwater, waterfall and chill-out
Saltwater pool and garden shared with very few guests, parking inside the grounds and the entrance to the private house among the trees. All the pool photos are in the next section.

The big saltwater pool, with its waterfall and diving board, is the heart of the villa. Around it, sun loungers and parasols, the large table for eating outdoors, the fountain and the chill-out pergola for summer nights.

Four rooms and the private house
The rooms are fully renovated and well equipped: private bathroom, air conditioning, heating, mosquito net and mini fridge, with breakfast included. The private house is self-contained, with its kitchen and two bedrooms. All of it adults only.

The private house
A whole house for up to four adults, within the same grounds: two bedrooms, the main one overlooking the sea and the garden and the second opening onto the terrace, bathroom with dressing room, full kitchen and lounge with TV under the spiral staircase. Pool and garden shared with very few guests.

Altafulla, the coastal path and Tarragona
A medieval village with a castle and a beach, a path along the sea to Tamarit castle, and Roman Tarraco a quarter of an hour away.

The castle, the church of Sant Martí and the streets of the Vila Closa, the medieval old town, are a short walk from the villa. Below, Altafulla beach with its restaurants and terraces. And on the outskirts, the Roman villa of Els Munts, a World Heritage Site as part of the archaeological ensemble of Tarraco.

Along the sea
The coastal path
The coastal path follows this whole shoreline right by the sea. From Altafulla beach it is an easy walk to Tamarit castle via Cala Jovera; and if you want to go on, the trail continues through pine woods across the Bosc de la Marquesa, Punta de la Móra and its coves (Waikiki, La Fonda) to Platja Llarga and Tarragona. Do one stretch or the whole day.

A quarter of an hour away

Ancient Tarraco, Roman capital of Hispania, has its amphitheatre facing the sea and, up above, the Part Alta: medieval streets around the cathedral, the Plaça de la Font with its terraces and Roman remains between the houses. The whole Roman ensemble is a World Heritage Site.

Beautiful, peaceful villa with a lovely garden and pool, very close to the centre and the beaches. Marcia makes you feel at home. Highly recommended!
